I believe the art of photography is about capturing a moment...
  • Passing a scene and being moved by the way the light hits it, or maybe the way the colors contrast one another yet still blend in unison.
  • Framing a subject from a different angle to provide viewers a new perspective on something they may have seen a hundred times.
  • Catching the expression on someones face which captures the essence of them, to freeze in time.
Most of the time it is simply taking the time to record a moment for others to share.

I live in Boulder, Colorado; so you will find much of my photography to be centered around this beautiful state. I also enjoy to travel, often to remote places to scuba-dive, and always tote my camera(s) along. My dogs, Tasha & Sadie, are often favorite subjects of mine, which is why there is a section dedicated just to them.

I always believed that film would remain the true art of photography. I admired the history of photography and the purist photographers (some do still exist) who would capture a scene with a single shuttle click, rather than rolling off 100's of shots and sorting through the stacks.
But at the end of the day, I found a certain amount of enjoyment, and relief, when the shots that I took from the strangest angles or most peculiar times - that I almost hesitated taking at all - became my favorites and made it to my wall.
Many of the photos on these pages were taking with a traditional 35mm SLR. Outdoor shots are (almost) always taken using only the ambient light of the scene. Lately I have been shooting digital as well, and all the portraits are taken with a digital SLR. Advances in digital photography have made it quite advantageous from so many aspects. Especially when there are people involved, taking a 100 shots of them to really capture that one expression which actually captures them, makes it the right way to go.
Yes, I know there are a few photographers left who still capture a scene or the essence of a perseon with a single click, but I guess I am just not them yet. :)
